EASY DOES IT: RE-INKER PALETTES

Re-inkers are my favorite supply to use for coloring an image; they're inexpensive, available in a wide range of colors, and apply easily with a brush. I needed palettes for the re-inkers; I wanted something that had a blending area, could be closed, had a place for a label, required little storage space, was portable, uncomplicated, and inexpensive.

Thanks to a box of CD cases (DID NOT like storing UMs in CD cases), I had what I needed...Super Palettes.

Here's some SP tips:

Use only water-based dye or pigment inks in a SP; permanent inks, including those that require heat setting, are not suitable.
A SP can be used for either a single color ink or multiple colors of ink.
Place only one type of ink (i.e., dye or pigment) in a SP.
It's usually better not to put ink on both sides of the SP; the side without ink can be used to blend colors.
To apply a single color to a SP: shake the bottle of ink; remove the top and add two drops of ink along one side of the SP; brush out in a line; roll out the ink in a thin layer with a rubber brayer.
To apply multiple colors to a SP: shake the bottle of ink; remove the top and touch the tip of the ink bottle to one corner of the SP; spread the ink in a thin layer with a cotton swab; repeat in the other three corners.
Dye ink will dry over time; reconstitute with a dampened brush.
Pigment ink may become thick over time; thin either with a very small amount of water or apply with a dampened brush.
To use dye ink as a pigment ink: blend a very small amount of embossing ink in dye ink.

Label each SP with the type of ink and colors.

To clean the SP: wipe out ink with a damp paper towel; remove remaining ink with detergent and and water.
No reason to limit SPs to re-inkers...water-based markers and Twinkling H2Os are only two of the other coloring agents that work just fine in these handy palettes.

Nancy, if CD cases don't work for you with UMs, may I ask what system you do use?

Hi Mary!

My system is a little funky...a combo of three or four methods.

Kinda long, so it's better if I send the description in an e-mail. Will do that tomorrow.
