EASY DOES IT: CUT IT OUT

If cutting out isn't your favorite thing to do, here's some tips that will eliminate the frustration AND give excellent results.

1: When cutting, sit at a counter that is high enough so that your foreams will rest flat on the counter.
2: With your forearms on the counter, hold the scissors so that the points are pointed straight out in front of you (aka, the naval salute).
3: Hold the item being cut (paper, fabric, etc.) in your non-cutting hand and cut by rotating the item, NOT the scissors, along the marked line or image. Keep the scissors' points straight out in front of you. As much as possible, the cutting line should be to the left of the scissors' blades (to the right if left handed).

That's all there is to it...perfect cutting time after time after time. Even those pesky circles are a piece of cake to cut out accurately. Another bonus, you'll rarely need teeny, tiny scissors to cut out teeny, tiny images.

Long as we're taking scissors...cutting paper doesn't dull scissors. Trimming the kid's hair, clipping the dog's toe nails, polyester batt, and cutting wire does dull scissors, but paper doesn't (unless it has metal bits). So put that old wife's tale to rest and cut away.
