MAKE IT EASY; PPS (PSEUDO POLISHED STONES)

A little bit of this, a little bit of that...doesn't take much to make a card. The PPS (pseudo polished stones) background was leftover from another card; the Asian woman image was discovered in the bottom of a drawer (sorry, no idea where I got it). The black card stock was a little shy of an A2, but still enough for a card. Grafix Double Tack adhered the layers.

Pacon Fadeless Metallic Gold Paper was the basis for the PPS background. Cover the work area with freezer paper, paper side up. Place the gold paper on the freezer paper. Dig out the disposable gloves and open the windows (isoprophyl alcohol should only be used in a well-ventilated area).

Pour about an ounce of isoprophyl alcohol (70 - 90%) into a small jar that has a cover (my jar once held Pearl Ex). Dip just the tip of a 1" disposable foam brush into the alcohol; push the tip against the inside of the jar to remove excess alcohol. Drizzle one or two teeny drops of Clearsnap Ancient Page Coal Black reinker on the tip of the brush; brush and pat the alcohol/ink over the paper, adding teeny drops of ink as needed. Dip the tip of the brush into the alcohol again and remove excess alcohol against the inside of the jar. Drizzle one drop of Clearsnap MicaMagic Antique Gold reinker on the tip of the brush, and push the tip randomly over the paper. Crumple a 8" x 10" (give or take) piece of white tissue paper into a ball. Pat the tissue over the surface to remove ink/alcohol. leaving as much as you desire. (Click left on the picture for a close up of the PPS; I removed quite a bit of the black ink.) Allow the paper to dry, then heat set.

Any color paper can be used, just has to have a gloss or semi-gloss finish. Any color combinations can be used...experiment! Nice thing is that there's no right or wrong; whatever happens, happens. And, if you think the results are yucky...they'll still be great to slice and dice for Inchies.

This technique can be messy, do protect the work area and your hands. If you save the alcohol, be sure it is be tightly covered, labeled and out of the reach of children.
