TUTORIAL: KORKER BOW (MRS. SASSY CRAFTER)

I don't think it's written in the Book of Craft Rules that this bow is limited to being either a barrette or hair clip. When you think about it, it'd be one smashing adornment for a gift box, or attached to the branch of a Christmas tree, or several hanging from a mobile form, or a wreath adornment...or what ever else you'd like to do.

TUTORIAL: PICNIC FOOD PROTECTORS (MARTHA STEWART)

This is one of those DUH (why in the world didn't I think of this?) moments. Not only is it an excellent idea, but think of all the fun you'll have stamping on those muslin circles (or squares)and decorating the rims of those hoops. Remember to wash, dry (no softener agent in either the washer or dryer) and press the muslin to the shiny side of freezer paper before stamping or coloring. Textile markers can be used either to color stamped images or for free hand drawings. Do not remove the freezer paper until the ink and/or markers have been heat set. Way too much fun!

Here's a refresher course for a technique those of us who have been slapping stuff on paper for ages have done in the past...if you're new to all this, consider this as one incredibly easy way to whip up background papers.

BTW: Water-based reinkers work if you're fresh out of tempera or acrylic paints; misting mediums work too (apply the mist to the bubbles), although the resulting color will be light.

Stick them is in your Art Journal (which I KNOW you have handy at all times) to easily keep track of them. Honest, you'll be amazed how often you'll pull the sheet out to remind you of the easy way to do a technique. As you can imagine, a picture of the creation on the sheet is a REAL bonus, but taking a picture of each and every creation isn't practical everytime. Another bonus: if you decide to submit the creation to a publication, you'll all set to go; the sheet will have all the info required (remember to take a picture before sending your creation off).
