Finally...finally...finally, I'm back in business. Ironically I'm not at home, but thanks to a son, the BIG C is installed and working. Having gone through five previous no-show installation dates, I refused to cancel a plane ticket that had been set for months. Hardly a surprise that the phone wasn't installed correctly, so back they came (and my son missed another half day of work) to get the phone working.
The son I'm visiting just moved, and his Internet connection wasn't installed til last night...but it's a go now, and so am I!
Wahoo...onward and upward.

Really missed you. So glad you are back.
Congratulations on the Cable Install!!! Too bad you had to give a pound of flesh, and your 'first born' in order to get it! We live in the country and deal with satellite TV and internet. Both are expensive, and are prone to 'outages' due to weather, bad dish alignment, etc. And the internet is NOT broadband, only 'high speed'. So that just means it's faster than dialup, SOMETIMES.
I hope you enjoy your link to the outside world!! It's great fun!
Oh yea, and most importantly:
WELCOME BACK!! As Marciad said, we missed you!!!!
Karma,
I live in the middle of nowhere (surrounded by nothing), and that's been one of the reasons I've had so many problems. Neither DS nor High Speed Internet connections are available. The BIG C was the only cable option I had. Dial-up was driving me up the wall; didn't help that the V company phone line didn't work on a regular basis. My cell phone served two uses: to let someone know I was at an airport; to call V to tell them my land line was out.
Elaine and Karma,
Many thanks...I'm a happy camper, finally!
