We spend a lot of time discussing different types of papers, and the weight of papers we prefer for certain projects. But...the grain of a paper isn't given too much thought.
If you quilt or sew, you know and understand the importance of the grain of fabric; the knowledge and understanding of grain also is necessary when working with paper.
If you aren't always pleased with a fold made along a scored line, chances are good the grain is the culprit. This tutorial from The Paper Mill Store explains why.
