EASY DOES IT: ACRYLIC BLOCK CLEANER

Recently on the Split Coast Stampers (http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/) General Stamping Talk forum, a stamper asked how to remove StazOn alcohol ink from acrylic blocks. Seems a friend borrowed her blocks, and when she returned them, the blocks were covered with Black StazOn Ink (bad, bad, friend!). StazOn is named that cause it does; removing that ink can be next to impossible.

As you probably know, acrylic blocks don't take kindly to a lot of cleaners...window cleaners with ammonia, vinegar, anything with a grit are a few of the no-nos.

Anne, Amber, Barbie, Diane, Heather and Sonya recommended using Mr Clean Magic Eraser. The stamper did, and the blocks are now back to the crystal clear, like-new condition. We all owe a debt of gratitude to those gals for this great tip.

Mr.Clean Magic Eraser is one brand; other brands are also in dollar stores, grocery stores and hardware stores. Frankly, I haven't found any differences between the real one (Mr. Clean) and the knock-offs...except price, that is. But you might want to use the 'real one' if your blocks are a super mess.

Slightly dampen (I use a mister bottle) the white sponge, rub it gently on the stained area, rinse the block under water, and dry with a soft cloth.

If cleaning blocks isn't your favorite thing to do, check out this Easy Does It Weekly tip: http://paperfriendly.blogspot.com/2007/09/easy-does-it_28.html to learn how to keep blocks pristine without cleaning.

Mr Clean Magic Eraser is wonderful. Thanks for turning me on to it. What is the name of the generic product.

Thank you Nancy, for your comment on my blog (it's the FIRST comment!!!). I second the info on Mr. Clean - I use these erasers to clean the grout - they work like magic!
