RECYCLE: PATTERN TISSUE WREATH (ANNE KATA)

IF you happen to have an old 45 vinyl record stuck in a box, you're set to go.  If saving old records isn't your thing, go to a crafts store that sells cake decorating stuff (Michaels is one such store) and get a cake round (a round, cardboard thingy cake decorators put under cake layers).  Cut out a center hole, and you're set to go.  IF you're fresh out of old dress patterns, colored (or white) wrapping tissue works...probably best to get the type that the color is permanent so it won't be affected by moisture.  This is really a neat wreath...especially the cost (pennies, pennies, pennies!)

TUTORIAL: WIRED EDGED FABRIC FLOWERS (POLKA DOT PINEAPPLE; ARLETTE)

Seeing this tut brought back so many memories...back in the old days, bouquets of these flowers were seen in lots of houses.  We often covered both sides of the wire with fabric (the wire would not be exposed), then cut around the edge of the wire after the glue had dried. These flowers are easy, quick, inexpensive, and are a wonderful way to use fabric scraps.  No fabric...paper works too; select paper with a slight flex (cardstock would be a poor choice; mulberry paper would be a good choice).

Of all the uses listed for Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, the most important one was ignored: removing gunk, paint, ink and adhesive residue from acrylic blocks.  Almost as important...removing layers of yuck from that wonderful cutting board.  Shoot...clean blocks and mats are a heck of a lot more important that clean shoes (or stoves, or windows, or vases, or whatever).
