Back in the 'old' days, the ruffled edge seen on these flowers was used as a hem on knits...it was called a lettuce edge. Using it on strips cut from old wool sweaters results in the perfect edge for flowers. Do a bit of fiddling so that the zigzag stitch is the correct width to product a nicely rolled edge on the strips.

SEWING MACHINE TIPS: DOUBLE MACHINE NEEDLES (BOLT NEIGHBORHOOD; SALLY HESS)

Double needle stitching is such a super easy way to add pop and pizaaz to a creation...including paper! Sally explains the hows, whys, whens and what nots to eliminate any confusion when completing a double needle technique.

OK paper people, time to borrow another sewing notion for paper crafting. These little kits are available in the notions departments of crafts and fabric stores. The results: easy, quick and VERY inexpensive buttons in the color, size and technique you need. There's two or three brands; all work in the same way and contain the same stuff.  And each provides another use for those leftover fabric bits.

BTW: Remove the shank and place a glue dot on the back of the button to secure it to a substrate (not fabric that will be laundered).  One suggestion: a small, round magnet.

An option: Cover Stick On Nails with paper, trim the paper to the nails, then stick those on your 'real' nails.

Yep, this is a flower tut. I prescheduled this post a good two weeks ago cause I was gone for the holiday. Unfortunately, my old brain can't remember where the star came from, and I've been racking my brain (and doing more searching than I care to admit) trying to find it.

I'll continue searching, it looks too good not to find!

TUTORIAL: FAUX LOUIS VITTON FABRIC BEAD NECKLACE (FROO GAL; KATHY G)

Could have titled this, LEFTOVERS...bits and parts of fabric work just fine. Paper works too, but you will have to be a bit careful when stuffing the ends into the hole in the bead, and it'd be a good idea to seal those beads with either a spray or brush-on acrylic before stringing them.
